A Work-Play Balance
On the field and in the gym, children share in the camaraderie of playing on a team and are encouraged to make fitness part of a healthy lifestyle. Sportsmanship and doing one’s best, regardless of skill level, are vital components of our overall program at every age level.
- Physical Education is considered a core part of the Davis curriculum whose goal is to develop the whole student. In the early grades we concentrate on the building blocks of movement concepts, spatial awareness with a shift to individual, team and recreational sports and concepts in the older grades. Our PE learning environment is based not only on play, but on but the ability to use the knowledge/skills taught to apply not only in the school environment but later on in life. We also teach students about their minds, bodies and spirit and apply this in Physical Education. We want our students to be lifelong learners as well as life-long movers!
- Lower School students have PE three times per week; Middle School students take PE daily.
- Middle School students may participate in Interscholastic sports. Our policy enables students the opportunity to participate at several skill levels. Our teams regularly make the playoffs and win championships in the MAAC Conference.
- Middle School sports include: Soccer, Basketball, Baseball, Softball, Track and Field, Volleyball, Tennis, Cross Country, Golf and Swimming.
